Albuquerque, New Mexico — On this St. Patrick's Day the Albuquerque Rugby Club announce that their local club, the Albuquerque Aardvarks, will travel to Ireland this summer for an international rugby tour highlighted by a match scheduled for August 8, 2026. The Irish opponent is currently being finalized as the club narrows down potential host teams.
The tour builds on the club’s growing international presence. In recent years, the Albuquerque Rugby Club have completed two rugby tours to Mexico in 2025,
strengthening international relations and bringing additional exposure for New Mexico’s community.
The trip also highlights broader cultural and economic ties between New Mexico and Ireland. In recent years, both regions have worked to expand business, technology, and cultural partnerships, with organizations in Albuquerque and Ireland collaborating on trade and innovation connections between New Mexico and Ireland.
Club leaders say the Ireland tour will combine competitive rugby with cultural exchange while strengthening relationships between rugby communities in New Mexico and Ireland.
Additional details about the Irish host club, community partners, and tour schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.
